The storage specialist Acronis has recently unveiled the twelfth edition of its backup software, creation and restoration of hard drive images, Acronis True Image Home 2009. This new version replaces logical version 11 announced a little over a year available for Windows 2000, XP and Vista, improving features and adding new ones.
The installation of TrueImage is automated and poses no concern. When it is completed, the computer will reboot. Inspired by Windows Vista, the new True Image 2009 Home interface adds usability enhancements to make Acronis True Image Home even easier to use! If you know how to use Windows, you'll find navigating through Acronis True Image Home 2009 a snap because it looks and acts JUST LIKE Windows!
The advantage of TrueImage is to safeguard the system while you work on your computer; until a few years ago, this was simply impossible, but in the same time you need to have at list 1GB of RAM memory because during our test we had 512MB RAM memory and we noticed slowness of our system, but after we added additional 512MB system have work much faster with Acronis True Image in background.
You can make a backup in several types of destinations: network drive, any drive connected to your PC (including USB devices) and Acronis Secure Zone. The third option (Acronis Secure Zone) puts the backups in a hidden partition on the hard disk, making any virus or malicious software almost impossible to destroy your data. In addition, when you start the computer, a Boot Manager can choose between continuing to start Windows or start Acronis True Image to start a System Restore (from a USB device or Acronis Secure Zone). This avoids having to keep itself with the CD boot Acronis (useful for mobile use with a laptop).
In the Tools menu, you can find classic File Shradder, DriveClanser and System Clean-up, whose names clearly speak about their use. In the same location and operations are preparing physically and adding a new hard disk, and copying overall partition to another HDD. As well as to other destinations and here you can find a detailed log files from all previous undertakings.
If you go to tab Try & Decide you will be able to create a temporary, safe place on your hard disk where you can perform changes to your system that otherwise might not be advisable, such as installing new software, downloading files from the Internet, or opening email attachments. If the operations are successful, you can apply those changes to the real system or discard the changes as you wish. New with Acronis Home 2009, the temporary space you create is maintained across system shutdowns and restarts!
It is now possible to restore files individually using the new search tool. The function Try & Decide introduced in the previous version allows you to use your computer safely and decide afterwards whether changes should be preserved, has also been improved. The functions of erasing secure and safeguard and restore the registry and startup files are still in the game but we didn’t notice any additional changes compared with previous version.
In this new version backup has become more transparent to the user thanks to the Set & Forget. Smart Scheduling programming has been improved; it is now possible to run backups after a certain period of unused, at the opening or closing a session. In addition to the proprietary format TIB, backups can now take the form of ZIP file.
Acronis True Image is undoubtedly the leader in the field of backup software if not better than the popular Norton Ghost. True Image 2009 Home is a very complete suite of applications, which continues to be both comprehensive and thorough, while remaining easy to set up and use.
